Inclusive Hiring at Osome
Q&A with Carla, our Lead Talent Sourcer
Inclusion matters at Osome. When hiring, we look for great teammates, not just great skills. This Pride Month, we're hearing from Carla, who shares more about what makes Osome’s culture special.
What qualities or values do you look for in candidates beyond their technical skills?
At Osome, we look for more than just technical skills. We value people who are curious, collaborative, and care deeply about their impact. Our ideal candidates take accountability, embrace feedback, and pay attention to the details, all while helping us move fast and adapt in a scale-up environment. The foundation of our culture is rooted in DEI and reflected in our values of care, transparency, continuous improvement, and attention to detail.
How do you assess whether someone aligns with Osome’s values during the interview process?
During interviews, we focus on who someone is, not just what they’ve done.
We ask questions that reveal how candidates handle challenges, collaborate in diverse teams, take accountability, and show initiative by suggesting new solutions. We look for real stories that show how they adapt, learn, or navigate setbacks, this gives insight into their mindset and whether they reflect our values.
Ultimately, we want people to feel safe being themselves, because building a supportive and inclusive team starts with shared values, not just ticking boxes.
Why is values alignment just as important as skillset when hiring at Osome?
At Osome, values alignment is just as important as skillset because skills can be taught, but values shape how someone works, collaborates, and grows within our team. When people share our core values, they contribute to a positive culture, build trust, and help us move fast. This alignment ensures long-term success for both the individual and the company.
How does Osome create a culture of inclusion, and what should candidates know about that?
inclusion is at the heart of Osome’sculture. We actively create a space where everyone feels valued and supported. Candidates should know that diversity isn’t just a checkbox, it’s a strength we celebrate through open dialogue, empathy, and embracing different perspectives, making sure everyone can bring their whole selves to work.
If someone is unsure whether Osome is the right fit for them, what should they reflect on before applying?
Before applying to Osome, candidates should consider whether they’re comfortable navigating change and enjoy working in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment that values accountability, care, collaboration, and continuous learning.
It’s also important to reflect on whether they truly connect with our core values, which shape how we work and treat one another every day. Are they open to growing and adapting in a diverse, inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work and contribute to a safe, respectful environment?
In short, it’s about joining a purpose-driven team, growing personally and professionally, and making a meaningful impact.
What do you personally value most about working at Osome?
For me personally, it's the balance I get to enjoy between being a parent and growing in my career. Osome offers the flexibility that allows me to be present for my family (something I once thought was impossible after giving birth last year!) I’ve been given a great opportunity to manage my time effectively while also giving me the autonomy to explore new ideas in my field, like experimenting with AI in our recruitment processes. I feel trusted to do meaningful work and focus on bringing in the best talent to help drive Osome forward.
