How We Hire and Support Our Remote Workers
At Osome, remote work is about more than giving people the flexibility to work from different locations. It is also about ensuring that every remote team member has the tools, support and clarity they need to do their best work.
Our remote workforce includes more than 150 people representing over 20 nationalities and working across over 20 different countries and time zones. This diversity is central to our talent mission: hiring the right people for our business, creating opportunities for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, and building a workforce that reflects the clients and communities we serve.
Osome currently has legal entities in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the UK and the UAE. In countries where we do not have a local entity, we partner with a third-party global contractor management provider, enabling us to hire talent locally.
The provider also gives remote team members access to a payroll and HR platform where they can track salary payments, view contract details, submit reimbursement claims and access other employment-related information.
How our remote hiring model works
For countries outside our existing entities, we work with a third party of global contractor management that helps us hire talent locally. This third part also offers a payroll and HR related matters platform where you will be able to see your salary disbursement process, contract details, claim for reimbursement, and many more
Here's how the setup works:
Osome → the Third Party → You
The third party facilitates the contractor engagement on Osome's behalf. You'll enter into an independent contractor agreement, while working with Osome as part of your day-to-day team.
As an independent contractor, you'll receive your gross contracted salary, with responsibility for managing your own applicable tax obligations. The third party helps facilitate the payment and contractor administration.
Your working arrangements are also designed around your location and team needs. You'll work according to the local time zone agreed with your team and follow the public holidays applicable to your location.
Different contract. Same team. Same support.
While the contractual setup may differ from employees working in countries where Osome has a legal entity, we want our remote workers to have a fair and supportive experience at Osome.
While contractors are not typically entitled to employee benefits such as paid annual leave, sick leave, parental leave and healthcare coverage, Osome goes beyond these standard arrangements. We believe everyone who contributes to our success should feel supported and valued, which is why we extend a range of additional benefits to all our people, regardless of their contract type. This helps us create a more consistent and inclusive experience across our global workforce.
But don't just take our word for it. Let's see what Artem Lipatov (SEO Manager) and Philippe Castelo (Engineering Manager) say:
1.) As a remote contractor at Osome, how would you describe your experience working with the team? What has made the setup work well for you?
"Since many employees work remotely, the company has built a convenient setup for organising work and communication online. In Marketing, we have colleagues from different parts of the world, and our processes are designed to support this through regular meetings, task boards, and shared repositories. I enjoy this setup and don’t see any downsides compared to working offline when everything is organised properly." — [Artem Lipatov]
"What has made remote work successful is establishing clear ways of working and aligning on expectations, communication, values, and team principles. Our team spans Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Serbia, but timezone overlap and asynchronous work help us stay connected and effective as a team." — [Philippe Castelo]
2.) What’s one thing about working remotely with Osome that you particularly value?
"Apart from the flexibility of working from home, what I value most is how Osome creates a sense of unity among employees despite being a remote company. Regular company meetings, coffee chats, training sessions, awards, offline events, and interest-based clubs help people stay connected. I’m really grateful to the team for building this culture." — [Artem Lipatov]
"What I value most is how understanding and supportive my team is when personal errands or emergencies come up. We communicate openly, keep everyone informed, and trust one another to balance personal responsibilities with work. As a new dad of a 1 year old as well, being able to work remotely has been a big help in raising our child together as new parents." — [Philippe Castelo]
Our remote workers have the flexibility to work in a way that suits them, while still being part of the same teams, projects and culture as colleagues around the world.
Support beyond salary
Our support also goes beyond the monthly salary. Depending on your role and eligibility, our remote workers can receive:
- 🩺 Monthly health allowance — to support healthcare needs
- 💻 Company laptop — the equipment you need to get your work done
- 🌴 Annual leave, sick leave, and parental leave
- 🎯 Reward and recognition initiatives and payments
- 📈 Stock options based on performance and tenure
We also support the day-to-day experience of being part of a distributed team, from the tools we provide to the communities, learning opportunities and social activities that help remote Osomers stay connected.
The model allows us to hire great people wherever they are, while giving them the flexibility and support to work effectively as part of the Osome team.
