From Offer to Onboarding: How Osome Sets New Joiners Up for Success
Starting a new role should feel exciting, not overwhelming.
At Osome, we call our new joiners “Newsomers” because we believe joining a company is more than just starting a job, it’s the beginning of a new journey. Our onboarding experience is designed to help every Newsomer feel confident, connected, and set up for success from the very beginning.
From pre-joining preparations to structured check-ins across the first six months, here’s what our onboarding journey looks like at Osome:
- Before your start date
- Day One
- Week One
- Month One
- Month Two to Six
🌱 Before You Officially Join
Your journey begins even before your first day.
Around 10 days prior to joining, you’ll receive:
- A welcome email with everything you need to know for your first day
- A clear onboarding schedule and calendar invitations
- Early connection with our People Team
By the time you log in on Day One, you’re not starting from zero, you’re already prepared.
We also take a personalised approach from the start. You’ll share your preferred working and communication style, allowing your manager to support you in a way that works best for you.
Because success at Osome isn’t about “figuring things out alone”; it’s about giving you the right foundation from day one. This reflects our value of Care.
📅 Week One: Getting to Know Things
In your first week, the focus is on helping you understand how everything connects.
You will:
- Explore internal knowledge and documentation
- Learn how your team operates and contributes to the business
- Align on what success looks like in your role
By the end of the week, you won’t just know what to do, you’ll understand why it matters.
💬 Month One: Ongoing Learning and Check-ins
We see onboarding as a two-way journey.
Within your first month:
- You’ll have a dedicated check-in with the People Team to discuss your experience
- You’ll be encouraged to share feedback openly
- You’ll complete our Newsomers Survey
This ensures you feel supported, while also helping us continuously improve how we onboard future team members.
🌟 Month Two to Six: Continuing Your Journey
Our commitment doesn’t stop after your first few weeks.
We continue to support your journey through structured milestones:
- At 60 days: A check-in to understand your progress, challenges, and future goals
- At 90 days: An opportunity to connect with our Chief People Officer and reflect on your experience
- At 6 months: A comprehensive conversation focused on your growth, performance, and long-term success
🗣️ Hear From Our Newsomers
According to our most recent Newsomers Survey, 100% of our new joiners shared that they felt satisfied with their onboarding experience at Osome.
To bring these experiences to life, we spoke with two Osomers, Aksshara Jesudas (People & Culture Executive) and Ignatius Evan (Head of Engineering), who have gone through the onboarding process and successfully passed their probation to hear what the journey at Osome really feels like.
"How's your overall experience with onboarding at Osome?
Aksshara: "My onboarding experience at Osome has honestly been really awesome and welcoming. From the start, everyone was friendly, approachable, and always willing to help. The onboarding process was also well organised, so it was easy to understand what I could expect while learning my role.
I appreciated having the space to learn at my own pace while still feeling supported by the team. Overall, it made settling into my role much less overwhelming and got me excited to be part of Osome.”
Evan: "I’ll never forget my first day. A major cloud provider went down, causing a massive disruption to our operations. Most people would panic, but what I saw was incredible: no blame, zero ego, just a team that came together to solve problems and learn from them. It sounds stressful, but it was actually the perfect introduction to the culture.”
"What advice would you give to a new joiner
Aksshara: “I would say don’t be afraid to ask questions, even the small ones. There’s definitely a lot to take in at first, but people here are very supportive and happy to help.
It also helps to connect with teammates from different teams early on because you get a better understanding of how everyone works together. Give yourself time to learn and adjust, and don’t feel pressured to know everything immediately.
Most importantly, enjoy the experience, it’s a really good place to learn, grow, and meet great people.”
Evan: “Stay curious and lean into the chaos. Every issue is a hidden opportunity for growth and learning together. You’ll quickly see that the company, your manager, and your peers are all invested in your success. You’ll never have to face a challenge alone because there is always someone ready to guide you or turn a ‘mistake’ into a shared lesson.”
These experiences reflect what we aim to create for every Newsomer at Osome; an onboarding journey that goes beyond orientation and truly sets people up for success from day one.
That’s why we invest in creating a journey built on clarity, structure, and support, so every Newsomer can focus on what truly matters: making an impact.
